Offensive Explosion Carries Huskies to Win

The New Hampton Huskies traveled down to take on a strong Andover team, who is coming off a very big win against Thayer Academy. The game did not start as the Huskies would have hoped, Andover scored in the first minute to take the early lead. New Hampton remained calm and responded six minutes later, when Michael Kane step up Jake Dunlap for a goal. Less than a minute later, Joe Dunlap scored on a nice pass from Zak Lanoue to give New Hampton the lead. After gaining the lead, the Huskies never looked back continued to control the play for the rest of the period. Michael Kane scored his first goal of the season on a nice shot low to the glove side, giving the Huskies a 3-1 lead heading into the first intermission. In the second period, New Hampton continued their strong play, Zak Lanoue increased the Huskies lead to three, when he rocketed a shot on the power play past the Andover goaltender, just over three minutes into the period. Five minutes later, Cory Morris fed Bradley Shaw backdoor, to put New Hampton up 5-1. After going up by four, the Huskies had a mental lapse for a couple minutes that allowed Andover to score twice and get back in the game. However, with just over two minutes remaining in the period, Michael Kane scored his second goal of the game to take back the momentum for New Hampton. The third period, New Hampton continued their dominating play, Jake Dunlap and Bradley Shaw added their second goals of the game, leading to an 8-3 victory for the Huskies. Matt Sayles played solid in net again to earn the victory, stopping 19 of the 22 shots he faced. The Huskies will have little time to enjoy their victory, as they head back home to take on Stanstead College tomorrow afternoon.
