New Hampton School welcomes Ed Kiley of Plymouth, New Hampshire as the Head Coach of the Varsity Football Team for the 2017-2018 year. Coach Rick Marcella has accepted a position as the head coach at Bridgton Academy in Bridgton Maine where he will return to his home for 26 years prior to his arrival at New Hampton. Marcella has helped build a very strong football program and the School is grateful for all he has given during his time here.
Coach Kiley has been affiliated with the New Hampton program since 2004 and was the head coach of the Huskies from 2008 to 2013.
Coach Kiley’s connection to the program extends beyond his 13 years as a coach. His son Jake is a 2012 graduate of New Hampton, starring on the field before continuing his football career at Penn State. Coach Kiley initially served as defensive coordinator and run game coordinator before assuming the head coaching position in 2008. As New Hampton’s head coach, Ed was also the offensive coordinator and compiled a 34-10 record and three Evergreen League titles. During Ed’s head coaching stint, New Hampton made NEPSAC bowl appearances in 2009, 2010, and 2011 and secured one bowl championship.
Ed served as associate head coach, offensive coordinator and defensive line coach during Coach Rick Marcella's tenure as head coach. When Rick stepped down to accept a position at Bridgton Academy, Ed was the obvious choice to reassume the position. He is excited to return to lead the team and guide Husky football forward.
"Ed Kiley is a highly respected and extremely knowledgeable football coach with a strong commitment to New Hampton School. We are fortunate to have him on our staff and excited to make this appointment, which provides continuity for our program and our community," said Jamie Arsenault, Director of Athletics.
