New Hampton School kicked-off Reunion 2017 on Friday night with a pig roast on the Memorial Dining Hall patio. We were thrilled to welcome over 175 alumni and their families—ranging from the class of 1948 to those that graduated just a mere ten days ago. The casual, informal event on campus was a great introduction to a weekend of fun. Alumni arrived throughout the evening (some arriving the Thursday before!) and welcomed the opportunity to check-out campus, begin to relax, and visit with familiar faces. The 50th reunion class from 1967 enjoyed a special dinner in Alumni Hall with Head of School Joe Williams and his wife Eileen.
Saturday was full of options for alumni including a guided hike up Burleigh Mountain, games for the whole family, co-ed softball and a fun "Back to School" series of classes. One of the classes featured the school partnership with the Walt Disney Family Museum (WDFM), teaching animation and showcasing the virtual course led by WDFM animation experts.
The evening hours featured new events for Reunion including a networking cocktail hour that invited alumni young and old to build connections, share their professional expertise, and their work experience. At the same time, a champagne toast was held in Joe Williams' office to recognize the 1821 Society, those alumni that have included New Hampton School in their estate planning.
As usual, the highlight of the evening was dinner under the tent by Kennedy Field. Following class photos, appetizers, and drinks, everyone gathered to honor the alumni receiving awards. The alumni recognized during the evening continue to embody the core values of New Hampton School in their adult lives and demonstrate the tremendous potential of our alumni network. Alumni were recognized for their inspiring work in the world, their ongoing contributions to the school, and the strength of the relationships they maintain with fellow Huskies.
The evening remarks and atmosphere were a reminder of the vibrant, healthy, and caring community that comprises Husky Nation. Alumni were grateful for the weekend's opportunity to reconnect with faculty and friends, relive their NHS memories, and create new relationships as adults and members of a rich and lively community.
