The Huskies took to the ice for the final time on Saturday, looking for their third win this season against Proctor Academy in our Senior Game celebrating Eva Thirion '24 and Moriah Smith '24. Proctor was the first team to put a point on the scoreboard, finding the net at the 9:21 mark of the first period.  Callie Paquette '26 quickly evened the game just one minute later on a beautiful end to end rush.  Gaining momentum, Riley Proulx '26 added her first tally of the game at 4:01 in the first and the Huskies had a 2-1 lead. Proctor tied the game just 10 seconds later and then added a third goal as the first period ended.  Proctor added one more goal just before the halfway mark of the second period and entered the locker room with a 4-2 lead.  There were several first half scoring chances from the Huskies, as a solid Hornet net minder turned away shots from Bri Hendin '25, Eva Thirion '24, Brooke King '27, Estelle Jennings '26 and Jocelyn Smith '26.  As the Huskies took to the ice for the second half of the game, they looked to capitalize on more of their scoring chances and came out skating hard.  Proctor was able to add their final goal of the contest at 4:32 in the second period and the Huskies found themselves in a 5-2 deficit.  With a never quit attitude, Eva Thirion '24 skated through 4 defenders and fired a gorgeous wrist shot glove side to bring the game within 2 as the second period came to a close.  The third period saw the Huskies skate as hard as they had all season and the work paid off! Estelle Jennings '26 started things off at 8:22 in the third with her tough play in front of the net and slapped home a rebound that the Proctor goalie failed to cover.  The next 5 minutes saw chances at both end of the ice and Sarah Pollard '27 made some incredible saves to keep the Huskies within reach.  The Huskies were gaining important momentum that was helped by successfully killing off a 5 on 3 penalty for over a minute.  Callie Paquette '26 scored her second goal of the contest and tied the game at 5-5 at the 3:47 mark in the third; the Huskies knew they were gaining momentum.  Riley Proulx added the game winner just one minute later and the Huskies were ahead 6-2 with 2 minutes to play.  The last two minutes proved to be the most exciting as Proctor pulled their goalie and skated with a man advantage. Jocelyn Smith '26 played excellent defense in our zone and made a fantastic clear down the ice that just missed the empty net, but shaved important seconds off the clock.  Riley Proulx '26 also nearly missed the open goal and with just 18 seconds left on the clock, the puck came back to the defensive zone.  Solid defense from Moriah Smith '24, Eva Thirion '24, Riley Proulx '26 and Callie Paquette '26 sealed the game as the final buzzer sounded.  It was a exciting finish to a fantastic season for the Huskies and Jocelyn Smith '26 earned Husky of the game for her heads up playing and the most exciting near miss on an empty net of the season. Congrats to the Huskies on their 6-6 record, skating against teams with many more players all season long!

The Huskies took to the ice Wednesday trying to continue their winning streak but came up short against a tough KUA team.  With more than 40 shots on net, the Huskies were stopped by an impressive KUA goaltender. Eva Thirion '24 prevented a KUA shutout by scoring the lone goal of the game at the 3:42 mark of the second period.  Sarah Pollard '27 made some incredible saves while the defense struggled to gain possession of the puck in our zone.  Kudos to Moriah Smith '24 on her solid defensive effort, including pulling a puck away from the goal line when a rebound was left in the open.  Moriah earned our Husky of the Game for her heads up playing through all 3 periods.

The Huskies took to the ice looking for another win against rival Proctor Academy, this time at Jacobson Arena.  The first period saw several minutes of back and forth play before Proctor took an early 1-0 lead halfway through the first.  Callie Paquette '26 evened the game at 1 with just under 3 minutes to go in the first period; the huskies would not trail again. Callie added her second goal of the contest and the only goal of the second period at the 5:30 mark.  The Huskies held a tight 2-1 lead entering the final period.  With a short bench and their legs getting tired, the Huskies never gave up and Eva Thirion '24 netted two goals in a 30 second stretch to put the game out of reach. With the Huskies entering the final few minutes up 4-1, Proctor was able to close the gap 4-2 with just over 7 minutes to go.  Eva Adams '25 added an insurance goal with 2:03 left in the game to make the score 5-2.  A slight defensive lapse allowed Proctor to score with 1 minute remaining, but the Husky defense was able to play to the final horn and come out on top 5-3.  For her 2 goals of the contest, capping off a 7 goal week, Callie Paquette '26 was award Husky of The Game!

The Huskies traveled up to Holderness and showed up ready to play.  It was a solid offense effort from the whole team with some incredible breakaway saves from Sarah Pollard '27, earning her first shutout win of the season.  Callie Paquette '26 started the team off just 30 seconds into the first period netting her first of five goals of the contest! Eva Adams '25 added her first tally of the game just 3 minutes later on a beautiful pass from Eva Thirion '24. Callie Paquette and Eva Adams would each add one more goal before the end of the first period and the Huskies entered the second period with a solid 4-0 lead.  The second period saw some back and forth chances from both teams, but it was Brooke King '27 who found the back of the net with 3:38 to play in the second for her first goal of her career! Our offense continued to bring great chances with some tough play in front of the net. Callie Paquette completed her hat trick as the second period ended and the Huskies were up 6-0 headed into the third period.  There was a lot of continued offensive pressure with some quality shots from Izzy Church '25 from the blue line and Jocelyn Smith '26 and Estelle Jennings '26 pounding away at rebounds.  The team showed overall tremendous improvement moving the puck and making solid passes as a team.  Callie Paquette added two more goals in the third period bringing the final score of the day to 8-0.  Brooke King was awarded Husky of the Game for her great heads up playing and first goal in a Husky uniform!

The Huskies took on a tough opponent Wednesday, as St. Paul's visited New Hampton with a strong JV team.  The first period saw 8 unanswered goals. Entering the second period, the team continued to battle for the puck, and made some great plays and had a few scoring chances.  The St. Paul's defense continued to be solid and the team couldn't get one past their goalie.  The Huskies showed some great defensive play in the second period, only allowing one goal on many shots.  Entering the third, the team set a goal for themselves to score at least once. Though the final ended 0-10, and we didn't score, the team skated hard until the last whistle and should stand tall and proud for continuing to battle a much larger, deeper team.  Despite the losing effort, the entire team should be congratulated for their positive attitude, great work ethic and willing to keep fighting until the end.  Congrats to Moriah Smith '24 for her strong defensive play, positive work ethic and great team leadership, earning HOTG for her efforts. The Huskies look to bounce back next Wednesday as we travel to Holderness for a rematch.

The Huskies returned home after several games on the road, and played a great game against Holderness, skating away with the 6-2 victory.  Eva Thirion '24 started things off just 30 seconds into the game and the Huskies were on the board 1-0. The team showed a lot of growth with some great positioning and passing from our newer skaters. Jocelyn Smith '26 and Brooke King '27 have both become consistent forces on the ice in only their first season playing ice hockey.  Eva Adams '25 made an impact at both ends of the ice, with some great defensive back checking and 2 goals in the contest.  She added one tally at the 6:45 mark in the first putting the Huskies up 2-0. Thirion quickly followed with her second goal of the game at 5:02 and Adams responded a minute later with her second. The Huskies had a comfortable 4-0 lead. Holderness was able to get on the board at the end of the period and the Huskies went into the second up 4-1.  Callie Paquette '26 scored the only goal of the second period which saw some great back and forth play from both teams.  The Huskies entered the third up 5-1. Holderness came out quickly in the third, netting their second goal of the game and the score remained 5-2 until the final minute.  Eva Thirion '24 completed her second hat trick in as many games with a beautiful wrist shot high glove side with a minute to go and the Huskies won 6-2. The Husky of the game went to Estelle Jennings '26 for her positive attitude, great effort on both offense and defense, and several shots on goal. Her eagerness and never quit attitude bring out the best in the team.   

On Wednesday, the team traveled to Proctor for our first match up of the season. Proctor's squad of 30 was no match for the Huskies who came away with an impressive 5-3 victory.  Eva Thirion '24 put the huskies up 1-0 just over 1 minute into the game at the 13:52 mark of the first period.  She quickly added her second tally of the game a couple of minutes later at the 12:07 mark of the first, putting the Huskies up 3-0.  The team created several more chances in the first with the Proctor goalie making some very good saves to keep their team in it.  However, Thirion completed her natural hat trick at 6:50 in the first, and the Huskies were ahead 3-0.  Two minutes later Riley Proulx '26 added her first goal of the afternoon and the Huskies finished a solid first period up 4-0.  With a comfortable lead and some strong defensive play, The Huskies started the second period with confidence.  Proctor scored their first goal of the afternoon shortly into the second period, making the score 4-1, but that did not deter the Huskies from continuing to fight and have several more scoring chances of their own.  Three of our forward wingers Estelle Jennings, '26, Brooke King, '26 and Jocelyn Smith '27 showed a lot of growth in their game by making some great passes, being open in front of the net and getting a few rebound chances! Though no goals resulted from their solid play, it won't be long before they find the back of the net.  Proulx added another goal just before the halfway mark in the game and the Huskies went into the locker room up 5-1.  Determined to finish the game strong, the Huskies came out firing in the second half. The end of the second period saw strong defensive play from Roberta Scott '27 that resulted in some great scoring chances in our offensive zone and some key takeaways in our defensive zone.  Izzy Church '25 and Moriah Smith '24 we also solid on the blue line, keeping the pressure on Proctor for the entire afternoon and disrupting multiple breakout chances.  With a 5-1 lead going into the final period, the Huskies were focused on maintaining the lead and not giving Proctor any good chances against  Sarah Pollard '27, who had another impressive game in net. With a lucky breakaway chance, Proctor scored early in the 3rd bringing the score to 5-2.  As the back and forth defensive battle continued, the Huskies worked to keep fresh legs on the ice against the much deeper Proctor bench.  Working to keep the puck our of their defensive zone and the pressure on Proctor, the team held the 5-2 lead until the last minute of the game when Proctor was able to add one final goal after a large scrum in front of the net.  The last :45 of the game consisted of great puck possession and no more chances for Proctor.  The Huskies skated away with a hard fought 5-3 win. Women's JV Hockey took on Dexter Southfield in the first round at the St. Paul's Invitational on Saturday afternoon.  In a tight defensive battle that saw goalie Sarah Pollard '27 making multiple noteworthy saves, the Huskies came up just short and fell 0-2.  Dexter had a deep bench that kept their legs fresh throughout the game, but the Huskies defense, consisting of Moriah Smith '24, Izzy Church '25, Riley Proulx '26 and Roberta Scott '27, battle hard in our defensive zone, blocking shots, making key takeaways and keeping the Huskies in the game until the end.  Our offense, led by Eva Thirion '24 and Eva Adams '25 had several chances to even the game, but were stopped by an impressive Dexter goalie.  Overall, it was a solid team effort with the Huskies showing huge improvements each time they step onto the ice. Congrats to Sarah Pollard '27 and Eva Thirion '24 for earning Husky of the Game for their performance in both games.

Looking to avenge their loss earlier this month, the Huskies stepped on the ice confident they could take on Kimball Union Academy in the consolation round of the St. Paul's Invitational.  Only one minute into the game, Eva Thirion '24, found the back of the net, putting the Huskies quickly into the lead 1-0.  A minute later Eva Adams '25 added her own tally, and the Huskies increased their lead 2-0.  After some great back and forth play with solid great breakout passes from Jocelyn Smith '26 and Brooke King '27, Eva Adams '25 added another tally in the first, putting the Huskies up 3-0.  The defense stayed strong through the rest of the first half with incredible back checking, solid zone play, and several key saves from Sarah Pollard '27 that gave the Huskies some energy to continue to battle, despite some tired legs.  Just at the end of the first half, Eva Thirion '24 added her second goal of the game on a skilled penalty shot, tucking the puck right behind KUA's goalie; suddenly the Huskies were up 4-0. With only 0:13 remaining in the first half, Riley Proulx '26 took charge with a beautiful end to end rush and fired a gorgeous wrist shot high on the glove side that the goalie never saw coming.  The Huskies were up 5-0 at the half.  After a short intermission, the Huskies were fired up for the second half, confident they could hold on to the impressive lead.  Riley Proulx '26 quickly added her second goal of the day with another beautiful wrist shot glove side. The Husky lead increased to 6-0.  KUA managed to bounce back slightly by adding goals at the 17:00 and 6:00 minute mark in the second.  The Husky defense continued to be impressive through the end of the game with some blocked shots and tough play in front of the net.  In the last minute of the game KUA managed two more quick goals, but the Huskies were able to hold on to the 6-4 victory, earning a third place finish in the invitational.  The team looks to build on its winning streak next Wednesday as they take on Proctor Academy! The Women's JV hockey team traveled to KUA and skated hard but fell to the Wildcats 3-11.  After a quick opening goal from the opponents, Eva Thirion '24 found the back of the net to even the score 1-1. Callie Paquette '26 quickly followed putting the Huskies up 2-1. KUA managed to tie the game again right at the end of the first period. The huskies skated hard throughout the second period and had several chances to score, including a breakaway chance from Bri Hendin '25 that just missed the net.  The second period also saw some strong defensive play from Moriah Smith '24, Izzy Church '25 and Roberta Scott '27 who all teamed up to hold the blue line and keep giving the Huskies offensive chances.  KUA managed 3 goals in the second, and the Huskies entered the third period down by 3, 2-5. The team goal for the third period was to skate hard, which they did, and "win the period."  KUA came out firing in the third and added 5 goals pretty quickly, putting the Huskies down 2-10.  The team never stopped skating, though, and Callie Paquette '26 netted her second goal of the game near the end of the third period.  KUA added one finally tally with a minute to go, making the final 3-11.  Sarah Pollard '27 was strong in net and made some great saves on the day, preventing several breakaway attempts and more than one picturesque glove save! Congrats to Bri Hendin '25 for earning Husky of the Game for her solid positioning, positive attitude and near goal on an amazing breakaway attempt!
