New Hampton, seeded 8th in the NEPSAC Class AA Tournament, headed to Dedham, MA today with a mission of upsetting top-ranked Noble & Greenough School on their home court. The Huskies held their own in the first quarter matching Nobles point-for-point and found themselves down by just 1 at the end of the period with Ava Perry, Elyse Ngenda, and Ne'vaeh Buntley doing the bulk of the scoring. New Hampton continued to execute on the offensive end and owned a 7-point lead mid-way through the second period. Abby Schrader sank a 3-pointer and Perry continued to knock down her free throws.

Just as the Huskies were gaining confidence, Ngenda and Buntley had to head to the bench due to foul trouble and momentum began to swing the other way. Nobles went a big run to bring the halftime score to 23-37. New Hampton's scoring drought lasted deep into the third until Martina Pike scored back-to-back buckets to end the period. 

On the defensive end, Ali Campbell and Elyse Ngenda each drew an offensive charge which gave New Hampton a much-needed boost. Our younger players gained valuable experience playing in their first New England Prep School tournament, and the team competed until the final buzzer. We will take all that we learned this season and continue to work hard in order to return to the post-season again next winter.

Our seniors, Martina Pike, Emily Hobausz, and Navi Buntley, will be greatly missed. We appreciate their many contributions to NHS and the women's basketball program, and wish them well in their future endeavors. Thanks for the memories, Huskies!

After a hard-fought game vs. Tilton School last night and a long bus ride to Winchendon today, the Huskies played a bit sluggish at times in their regular-season finale. However, Ava Perry '27 was an offensive spark plug for NHS scoring 8 points in the first quarter giving the Huskies a 21-15 lead, while Abby Schrader '27 stepped up on defense drawing 2 charges.

Winchendon, celebrating Senior Day and their final game of the season, did not go down without a fight. They regained the lead (36-34) at halftime and built a double-digit advantage after 3 quarters, but New Hampton came storming back behind Ne'vaeh Buntley's 11 point-performance and a HUGE triple from Ali Campbell '25 in the 4th.

The Huskies shot well from the free throw line and took care of business on the boards down the stretch, which allowed them to walk away with a much-needed 70-61 victory. New Hampton improves to 15-10, and now eagerly awaits a decision from the NEPSAC Tournament Committee.

Four players scored in double-figures for the Huskies today: Buntley '24 with a game-high 27 points, Elyse Ngenda '26 with 12, and Tahlia Pena '25 and Perry each with 11.

It was a back-and-forth battle for the full 32 minutes today as both NHS and Tilton were vying for a Lakes Region League Championship title and a bid in the upcoming NEPSAC Tournament. Ne'vaeh Buntley '24 started strong for the Huskies hauling down defensive rebounds and attacking the paint scoring the first 6 points of the ball game.

In the second quarter, the lead was never more than 2 points. Tahlia Pena '25 hit some timely threes while Adriana Hernandez '25 and Abby Schrader '27 both drew offensive charges that ignited the large crowd on hand. The score heading into the break was tied at 31 apiece.

Tilton built a 7-point lead in the third behind prolific scoring from Ahnay Adams and Colleen Phiri, who combined for 44 points in today's contest, but the Huskies punched back once again and started the final quarter with a 50-43 advantage. 

The Rams went on a 16-8 run, and with 1:55 left to play, owned a 59-58 lead. Hernandez scored one more bucket for New Hampton, but with time running out, the Huskies were forced to foul and Tilton was able to hold on for a 64-60 victory.  

This was a tough loss for the Huskies as victory was theirs for the taking, as well as the opportunity to be Co-Lakes Region Champions. However, they will learn from their mistakes and must now turn their attention to beating Winchendon for a chance at a NEPSAC bid.

Elyse Ngenda '26 had another strong performance for NHS with 21 points (7-for-10 FG/ 7-for-8 FT) and 6 rebounds. Pena and Hernandez were double-digit scorers with 14 and 12 points and combined for 10 rebounds.

Adriana Hernandez '25 was hot for the Huskies out of the gate. She scored on strong drives to the hoop, played lock-down defense, dished assists, and pulled down rebounds on both ends of the floor setting an example for her teammates to follow.

New Hampton tallied 30 points in the first quarter and finished the game shooting 55% from the floor. Tahlia Pena '25 was very efficient today finishing 6-for-8 (4-for-5 from downtown/2-for-2 FT) for a team-high 18 points in 14 minutes. Freshman Casey Stores also had a hot hand, shooting 50% (4-for-8) from 3-point range. She ended the evening with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist.

All healthy Huskies saw action in today's match-up and contributed to the 63-21 victory over a Lakes Region League opponent on the road.

The Huskies raced out to a 22-6 lead in the first 8 minutes of today's contest. Elyse Ngenda '26 contributed 10 points and Tahlia Pena '25 knocked down two 3's and a free throw for New Hampton. The Wildcats, playing in front of a raucous crowd, outscored the Huskies in the second quarter and trimmed the deficit to 11 by halftime.

New Hampton came out strong after the break behind the hot shooting of Ne'vaeh Buntley '24 who sank back-to-back-to-back triples bringing the score to 47-23 in the third quarter. The Wildcats picked up the intensity in the 4th and dissected New Hampton's defense for easy layups and kick-outs for threes. Luckily, the defensive and rebounding efforts of the Huskies improved enough for them to hold on for a 65-53 road victory.

Freshman Shannon O'Leary provided the spark the Huskies needed in the second half. She used her size effectively and forced the Wildcats out of the paint. Ngenda matched her first half offensive output with 12 additional points in the second half, finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and just 1 turnover. Buntley (19 pts., 7 rebs.) and Pena (11 pts., 5 rebs., 5 ast.) were solid in today's matchup. Adriana Hernandez '25 provided key leadership while dishing 4 assists.

New Hampton improves to 13-8 and will take on the Wildcats of Vermont Academy on Wednesday at 4PM.

NEW HAMPTON, NH - 

New Hampton's Ne'vaeh Buntley '24 sank 3 triples in a row to build a quick 9-6 lead over visiting Class AA Tabor Academy today. The Huskies and Seawolves exchanged blows in the first half with neither team gaining a double-digit lead. Halftime score:  NHS-22, Tabor-28.

New Hampton's Ali Campbell '25 provided a huge spark off the bench dishing assists, sinking shots, and grabbing key rebounds on both ends of the court. Freshman Ava Perry wreaked havoc on the defensive end with several deflections and steals which lead to key transition points for the Huskies, and senior Tri-Captain Martina Pike was effective limiting the offense of Tabor's bigs.

New Hampton suffered a scoring drought with 3 minutes left in the third quarter and Tabor owning a slim 4-point lead (32-36). The Huskies would not score again until an offensive board and mid-range jumper by tri-captain Elyse Ngenda '26 with 4:50 remaining in the 4th quarter. Now trailing by 17 (34-51), Ngenda and Buntley put the team on their backs and ignited a 21-4 run. In the final two minutes, Ngenda, Buntley, Perry, Campbell, and Adriana Hernandez '25 showed tremendous grit and determination. They limited Tabor to one shot per possession and battled for offensive boards and buckets at the other end.

With :22 remaining in the game, Tabor led 46-57, but Ngenda caught fire and scored 7 straight points in 16 seconds to bring the Huskies within 4 (53-57). The Seawolves called a timeout to advance the ball with 6 ticks on the clock, but New Hampton forced a turnover on the inbounds pass attempt. A quick timeout by Coach Corselli moved the ball to New Hampton's front court and gave the Huskies two good looks at the basket but neither shot fell and time expired, ending New Hampton's chances for an epic comeback.

Ngenda and Buntley had identical stat lines with 22 points and 9 rebounds each. They played 30+ minutes and left it all on the court, inspiring their teammates to do the same. On a day when New Hampton School was recognizing National Girls and Women in Sports Day, both teams gave strong performances and showed that girls and women can compete at the highest level.

It will be a quick turn-around for the Huskies as they head to KUA on Monday. The start time for the game has been changed to 3:30pm.

EXETER, NH - 

The Huskies out-rebounded Phillips Exeter 41-30 today en route to a 54-37 road win. Sophomore Elyse Ngenda had a team-high 10 boards and 14 points for another double-double on the season. Ava Perry '26 pulled down 6 rebounds, while Ali Campbell '25 and Shannon O'Leary '27 had 5 apiece.

New Hampton's stingy defense held Exeter to just 4 points with 5 minutes remaining in the second quarter, but the Big Red closed out the half on a 14-4 run to cut the deficit to 9 (25-16).

The Huskies regrouped during the break and came out strong building a 21-point lead with 1:42 left in the 3rd quarter. Ne'veah Buntley (11 pts), Casey Stores '27 (9pts), O'Leary (7 pts.), and Abby Schrader (6 points) provided balanced scoring for New Hampton.

With today's win, the Huskies improved to 12-7 and will welcome Class AA Tabor Academy to Mark Tilton Court on Saturday.

Spirits and energy levels were high as the NHS community celebrated the contributions of seniors Martina Pike, Emily Hobausz, and Ne'vaeh Buntley before the tip-off of today's match-up with Lakes Region League opponent Proctor Academy. 

Tri-Captain Elyse Ngenda '26 had a steal and a bucket in the early going to ignite the Husky offense. She shot 100% from the floor netting 12 points in just 7 minutes of action. Buntley, seeking to score her 1000th point, took over from there. Her teammates selflessly looked to feed her the ball and she connected on 7 buckets in the first half, needing just 11 more points to reach her goal. 

Hobausz, in her second year with the Huskies, played with tremendous heart. Despite her small stature, she led the team with 8 rebounds, 5 on the offensive end. Emily also had 6 points, 2 steals, and 3 assists, one of which was a post-feed to Buntley for her 1000th career point. The home crowd (including Buntley's parents who traveled a great distance to be here) erupted as "Navi" reached this impressive milestone in the 4th quarter.

Four-year senior Martina Pike was steadfast per usual today. She made her presence known on the defensive end, communicating effectively, rebounding the ball, and blocking a shot.

New Hampton also received key contributions from several underclassmen today. Shannon O'Leary '27 scored a season-high 8 points and was a monster on the boards with 7. Classmate Casey Stores knocked down some timely threes en route to a 10-point performance. She also pulled down 4 boards and dished 4 assists (tied with Buntley). Freshman Abby Schrader played a well-rounded game with 4 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Junior Adriana Hernandez finished with 3 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.

Proctor battled hard all game despite being shorthanded due to illness and injury. Lord and Subasic scored 10 and 15 points respectively. Subasic's 10 rebounds earned her a double-double on the day.

New Hampton improves to 11-7 on the season and will return to action after a much-deserved long weekend break. The Huskies will travel to Class A Phillips Exeter Academy on Wednesday the 7th.

NEW HAMPTON, NH -

Ne'vaeh Buntley '24 hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the 2nd quarter to give the Huskies a much-needed spark and cut Nobles' lead to 7, but the visitors' loaded line-up, which shot 50% from 3FG and 65% from 2FG, was too much to handle. Final score: Huskies - 51, Bulldogs - 89.

The Huskies received sharp shooting from freshman Ava Perry (100% FG, 7 pts.) and sophomore Elyse Ngenda (62% FG, 21 pts) as well as solid minutes from Abby Schrader '27, Martina Pike '24, and Adriana Hernandez '25 off the bench. Buntley finished the game with 15 points and 8 rebounds.

Although today's game ended in a loss, the Huskies never stopped competing from start to finish and are prepared for Wednesday's home game vs. Lakes Region League opponent Proctor Academy. The team will be celebrating the many contributions of seniors Martina Pike, Emily Hobausz, and Ne'vaeh Buntley before the 3:30pm tip-off.

WESTON, MA -

The Red Wings built a 14-4 lead mid-way through the first quarter of tonight's game and never looked back. The Huskies went on a 10-0 run after the break, but it wasn't enough to reverse the damage done in the first half.

Sophomore Elyse Ngenda left it all on the court tonight finishing with a double-double (12 pts./10 rebs.), 3 steals, and a block. Thalia Pena '25 chipped in with 12 points and Ne'vaeh Buntley '24 added 10.

New Hampton will face formidable opponent Nobles on Saturday at home. Tip-off is at 2:30pm. Go Huskies!

BRAINTREE, MA - 

The Huskies had a solid stat line (62 points, 30 rebounds, 17 assists, 10 steals, and 2 charges) in a road win over a scrappy Thayer Academy squad today. New Hampton got off to a blistering start behind the sharp shooting of Ava Perry '27 and Thalia Pena '25. The Huskies sank a game-high 12 three-pointers on the day, Pena with 6 of those. New Hampton led 24-13 after the first quarter, but Thayer fought back to cut the deficit to 4 at the half. The Huskies came out on fire after the break and built a sizable lead (57-36) heading into the final period. Although Thayer outscored NHS in the 4th and hit a 3 at the buzzer, it wasn't quite enough, and the Huskies walked away with their 5th victory in a row.  

Ne'vaeh Buntley '24 and Elyse Ngenda '26 joined Pena in double figures with 16 and 14 points respectively. Buntley narrowly missed a double-double with 9 boards, while senior Martina Pike had 5 rebounds and drew two charges. Ngenda had a team-high 6 assists to go along with 3 steals. Junior Adriana Hernandez worked hard on the defensive end and hit a timely three-pointer for the Huskies to halt the Tigers' late-game run.

New Hampton stands at 10-5 on the season. With no game on Wednesday, the Huskies will rest up for their match-ups against perennial powerhouses Rivers and Nobles next weekend.

NEW HAMPTON, NH - 

The Huskies had a Class AA match-up with St. Andrew's School (RI) on the Mark Tilton Court today. Both teams battled hard the entire 32 minutes, but a big third quarter (23 pts.) for New Hampton allowed the Huskies to build a 48-32 lead heading into the fourth period. With just under 5 minutes to play, the Huskies extended their lead to 22 with back-to-back 3-pointers from Tahlia Pena '25 and Casey Stores '27. The Saints responded by scoring on their next three possessions, but it wasn't enough to mount a comeback.

New Hampton shot an impressive 51% from the field. Ne'vaeh Buntley '24 and Elyse Agenda '26 had 18 points apiece, while Pena and Stores chipped in with 13 and 8 respectively.

Strong defense once again jump-started the offense. Martina Pike '24 has the bruises to prove it! Thirteen steals (8 from Buntley) led to 17 points for the Huskies off turnovers. NHS worked hard on the boards (25 defensive rebounds) often limiting St. Andrew's to just one shot per possession.

Freshman Ava Perry played all 32 minutes of today's contest. She had 8 boards, 2 assists, a steal, and a bucket, in addition to many of the intangibles needed to help her team seal this key victory. 

New Hampton improves to 9-5 on the season. The team will travel to Thayer Academy on Saturday for a 2PM tip-off.

DEDHAM, MA - 

New Hampton traveled to Noble & Greenough School for the third time this season to participate in Day 2 of the She Got Game basketball showcase.  A strong defensive effort by the Huskies allowed them to build a 34-18 lead over Class AA MacDuffie at the half. Numerous steals led to fast breaks and buckets for NHS. 

MacDuffie did not go down without a fight, however. They were patient on the offensive end and looked to get their leading scorer, K. St. Pierre, the ball. This talented guard ended with a game-high 21 points. 

Balanced scoring by the Huskies allowed them to widen the gap in the second half. Ava Perry (11), Ne'Vaeh Buntley (16) and Elyse Agenda (15) finished the game in double figures and the bench contributed 23 points. Final score: NHS - 73, MacDuffie - 37.

First year player Ava Perry was named the She Got Game MVP of this contest. She filled the stat sheet and played poised beyond her years from start to finish. 

This young pack of Huskies is 3-0 since the New Year and hopes to continue its winning ways when they host St. Andrew's on Wednesday.

NEW HAMPTON, NH  -

New Hampton came out of the gates strong against today's visitors and never looked back. Unselfish play allowed 11 different Huskies to score. Quick ball movement combined with the "one more" pass mentality led to 13 assists on the day. Ne'vaeh Buntley '24 was the only Husky in double figures, netting 10 points in just 9 minutes of action, while Michaela Mercier '27 shined in her varsity debut, scoring on a drive to the bucket, and adding 2 assists and a rebound. 

New Hampton played aggressively on the defensive end with 27 deflections and 19 steals. Leading the charge was Buntley (7), Casey Stores '27 (3), and Abby Schrader '27, Elyse Agenda '26, and Ali Campbell '25 with 2 steals apiece. 

The Huskies hope to keep the positive momentum going as they travel to Nobles on Sunday to face Class AA MacDuffie in the She Got Game showcase. Tip-off is at 4:15pm. If you are in the area, please come out and support. Roll 'skies!

DEDHAM, MA -

The Huskies got off to a slow start in the final game of the Nickerson Basketball Classic on Sunday morning at Nobles. Three minutes into the game New Hampton was still scoreless. Finally, Thalia Pena '25 hit a three and Elyse Ngenda '26 converted a steal into a lay-up to tie the game at 5-5. The two teams exchanged blows throughout the rest of the half and went into the break tied at 27.

In the second half, Loomis struck first on a feed to their talented post player, Alicia Mitchell, who had a game-high 20 points and 10 rebounds. Cold shooting and turnovers plagued the Huskies until Ava Perry '27 knocked down a 3 to cut the deficit to 5. Freshman Shannon O'Leary gave New Hampton some key minutes and used her length to disrupt Mitchell's rhythm.

Ngenda and Kitt Jones '25 worked tirelessly on the boards to keep Loomis at bay, especially in the 4th quarter. Ngenda had a team high 9 rebounds while Jones pulled down 6. New Hampton outscored the Pelicans in the final period as Casey Stores '27 hit another triple just before the buzzer, but it wasn't enough the close the gap Loomis had built in the 3rd. Final score: NHS - 52, Loomis - 58.

New Hampton's leading scorers today were Ngenda (17), Pena (12), and Ne'vaeh Buntley '24 with 10.

WOLFBORO, NH -

The Huskies traveled to Brewster Academy for their first Lakes Region matchup. Elyse Ngenda ‘26 started off hot, scoring 11 of the Huskies 17 points. Brewster capitalized on some of New Hampton's mistakes, leading them to score 13 points in the first quarter. Kitt Jones ‘25 played a huge role defensively in the second quarter, keeping Brewster to just 2 points. Martina Pike was great on the boards, boxing out and helping Tahlia Peña ‘25 start our transition offense early. Ne’vaeh Buntley ‘24 was aggressive offensively in the third quarter, scoring eleven straight points (finishing with 22). Adriana Hernandez ‘25 was a great spark off the bench, knocking down threes and dishing clean assists to her forwards leading to several "and-one" plays. Overall, the Huskies played great team basketball beating the Bobcats 53 - 29.
