  • April Female Athlete of the Month

The April Female Athlete of the Month is awarded to Emily Picard. Emily is the quiet leader of the team’s 9-0 start in April, a very talented catcher, catching every inning except for 4 in the first game of the season due to illness. She has handled the Lady Huskies diverse pitching staff flawlessly behind the dish and thrown out 4 of the 7 runners who have attempted to steal. Equally impressive is her consistent production at the plate. Emily's .609 batting average with 6 games left in the regular season is even more impressive when you look at her power (5 home runs, 6 doubles, and a triple) and her run production, as she has driven in 22 runs while scoring 19 of her own. She is also a cunning and aggressive baserunner who loves every aspect of the game. Emily is awarded April Athlete of the Month for her outstanding play on the diamond and her clutch hitting in big games.

  • April Male Athlete of the Month

The April Male Athlete of the Month is awarded to two student-athletes who are the backbone of the Men’s Varsity Lacrosse Team’s defense. Having two of the best players in New England at a position that requires only one to play at a given time, would leave most coaches with the tough decision of who to play and who to sit? However, these two players have run with their coach's decision to split games and play halves, a responsibility that is not only difficult but incredibly uncommon. They hold each other to a high standard and make each other better every practice and game. There is no question that they both make our offensive shooters better. They have held teams to a record low percent of under 4 goals per game. Husky Nation is lucky to have these two extremely talented goalies. Leading the team to a 9-0 start, and seen all over campus hanging out with one another as best buds. Cory Lyons and Max McGuire are awarded the April Athlete of the Month for or their selfless team-first attitude, their outstanding play and their natural leadership.
