New Hampton School Graduates its Largest IB Diploma Class
With the close of the 2016-2017 school year, New Hampton will graduate its largest International Baccalaureate Diploma class to date with 29 students completing requirements for the full-IB Diploma.
In total, 98 students completed at least one IB exam in the past three weeks. The results of the exams will be available to students in July.
To celebrate the hard work and dedication of the graduating seniors who successfully completed their IB Diploma requirements and exams, faculty held a special luncheon in their honor in Alumni Hall. The IB Diploma Programme is a two-year course of study known for its rigor and student-directed learning opportunities.
IB Diploma candidates have completed 6 core courses, many of which span two years, the Theory of Knowledge class, Community Activity Service (CAS) requirements, and an Extended Essay of 4,000 words. The depth of analysis, breadth of learning, and international open-mindedness are all notable strengths of IB graduates.
Not only does the IB Diploma Programme distinguish students in the college application process, but more importantly it prepares students to be critical thinkers with a sense of global perspective and balance as they enter college and the world beyond.
Director of Studies Matt Fisk thanked the 29 students for their participation in the IB Diploma Programme at New Hampton School and reminded them that they depart with an exceptional skill-set to serve them well as they enter college. He challenged them to be leaders in their academic pursuits and role models of what it means to be an active global citizen as they represent New Hampton School to a greater world.
New Hampton School is very proud of our International Baccalaureate students, both those that have completed the full diploma program and those that have elected to take specific IB courses of interest to them.
New Hampton School is the only IB Accredited Boarding School in Northern New England. For more information about the International Baccalaureate, please visit their website (www.ibo.org).
