Tie-Dye, Hip Hop, Knitting and Drum Circles; Arts Day at NHS

The Art Department, with the help of many volunteers, organized an incredible campus-wide celebration of the arts. The range of creative activities stretched from building a brick patio to tie-dying t-shirts to drum circles to animation and everything in between.
The celebration of the arts began in the morning with an Arts Awards Ceremony. Students who have participated in the arts this year were recognized for their contributions to specific art programs, and for their dedication, talent, and enthusiasm.
The community was also privileged to catch a glimpse of the spring musical, The Addams Family Young @ Part, that will debut later this evening. Dedicated performing arts enthusiasts have been working tirelessly the past few weeks to put the finishing touches on a witty and amusing, but professional and impressive, performance.
Following the awards ceremony, the whole school went on to participate in activities throughout the day. Students signed-up in advance for morning and afternoon sessions so that they had the opportunity to participate in multiple activities. We were also lucky to have mild spring weather that led activities outdoors onto patios and open spaces. Campus was full of energy and smiling faces throughout the day. Lunch even included live music in the dining hall! Photos from a fantastic arts day are posted on Flickr.
Arts Day will close this evening with a reception in Galletly Gallery, showcasing the work of all Visual Arts students. In addition, all students will attend opening night of the musical. The Saturday night performance of The Addams Family Young @ Part at 7 pm is open to the public.
