The Huskies traveled north on Wednesday to Robert T. Low Field, the home of the Holderness Bulls. The combination of a 6pm start an overcast evening and the game prior going into OT left both teams battling daylight.
At the start NHS was patient on both sides of the ball NHS chalking up two goals by the end of the first quarter. The composed Huskies kept their two goal lead through half with a score of 4-2. After half, both teams got into man down trouble resulting in back and forth tallies throughout the third quarter. The Bulls were not ready to roll over that easy. With great face-off play and consistent goaltending the Bulls continued to nip the heals of the Huskies. Late in the fourth with dwindling light the score stood at 8-6 in favor of NHS. Showing great heart the Bulls pushed back scoring two urgent goals, the last with 16 seconds remaining in regulation. The tilt would see over-time.
Upon the 4 minute sudden-victory restart the Bulls gained possession at the faceoff. The Bulls offensive press was smothered by a blindfolded save by NHS goaltender. Now NHS would have a chance to finish the game. Their efforts were stopped short by the Bull defense, and ball was headed the other direction. A hard outside shot from the Bulls rang the crossbar just off its mark. The ball soon after belonged to the Huskies and was on its way into Bull territory. A few passes and a well placed deflection ended the sudden-victory OT period. At the end of the wet overcast evening the only light left on the field was the red LED lights of the scoreboard; reading 9-8 in favor of NHS.
