Powder Keg Victory

NHS retains the Powder Keg with dominating performances.
New Hampton School romped to a breakaway victory in defense of the Powder Keg. Men's cross-country, football, mountain biking, and JVA soccer all won, as did women's soccer and field hockey. The sole blemish on the weekend, a hard fought 3-0 loss for the men's varsity soccer team, was offset by an impressive display of grit and sportsmanship.
In the run-up to the weekend, the men's cross-country team beat Tilton off-site at the Lakes Region Meet at KUA. Thunayan al-Mulla placed third overall, and Torre Davy placed eighth.
Friday night under the lights at Kennedy Field saw JVA soccer beat Tilton in a thrilling 2-1 contest. The following day, the women's teams would sweep Tilton. Soccer ground out a tough 1-0 win, while field hockey won 2-1 in overtime on the back of a tying goal by Andrea Odermatt and a Gracie Maganzini penalty stroke in sudden death. With mountain biking and men's soccer completed, the football took the field with the Powder Keg already in hand. Coach Marcella used the entire roster in a 37-13 win.
Student Body President David Fu and the football team were joined by students to close the competition with a rousing version of "New Hampton, Fair New Hampton."
