Galletly Gallery Features the New Work of Sandwich, NH Artist CC White in “Pilgrimage”

A new exhibit titled “Pilgrimage” will open Saturday, February 1, at the Galletly Gallery in New Hampton, New Hampshire. The show, which will hang for one month, features new work in mixed media by Sandwich, NH artist CC White.  Her dynamic work mirrors an interaction between body, mind and spirit. She uses marks, color and form to translate emotion into abstract images, provoking strong reaction.  The public is cordially invited to attend an artist reception on Friday, February 7, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The reception will also feature Art in Bloom by the New Hampton Garden Club.

“Recently I have felt particularly driven by an ongoing personal search for purpose, or “Right Livelihood”,” says CC. “While painting for this show, I felt I was navigating through questions on the various directions my life might take. Thus these paintings became imaginary and abstract “maps”, or travel guides, through my emotions. They are sometimes chaotic, sometimes serene, but always seem to have a kinetic energy.”

CC's work has been featured in many galleries including the Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery for Contemporary Art in Center Sandwich, NH (including 3 solo shows); the Kathryn Schultz Gallery (Cambridge Art Association in Cambridge, MA); and the Charter Trust in Concord, NH.

CC White's media includes acrylics, inks, conté and oil crayon, graphite, and found objects.  The great majority of her work is executed on paper, but she also creates assemblages of found objects on more rigid backgrounds to develop two-dimensional sculptural works.

In many ways, her current works, coinciding time-wise with her life on a modern-day homestead, evolve from her commitment to staying connected to place and using day-to-day experiences as catalysts for self-examination. She seeks and appreciates purpose and meaning in seemingly mundane tasks, and remains aware that deeper understanding comes not so much from “seeing the world” as perceiving the myriad connections that bind each of us to the larger world around us.

The Galletly Gallery is a 500-square-foot exhibition space at New Hampton School, an independent school in New Hampton, New Hampshire. The Galletly Gallery is located on the second floor of New Hampton School's Moore Center. The gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and on Saturdays from 9 am to noon.
