They were joined by equestrians from across the United States, all hoping to show off their refined riding skills as well as catch the eye of some of the nation’s finest equestrian college scouts.
Each of the girls competed in two classes, a flat equitation class and an over fences equitation class. Adding to the difficulty, the girls were competing on horses they had never seen before, choosing the horses name from a hat only hours before their class. Having only moments to mount and learn about the horse they had drawn, each of the girls entered their class of 12 competitors hoping to come home with a ribbon.
Mariele Chambers made the New Hampton Equestrian team proud as she placed second in her flat equitation class and was complemented by all three judges for having one of the best over-fences rides of the day. Ariel Goos brought the Huskies home a fifth place in her over-fences class while Emma Womack had two solid performances proving that New Hampton belonged in this elite competition.
A big congratulations to all three girls for their hard work and accomplishments!
