The College Counseling Office hosted a reception on Monday during advisor meeting for the Class of 2014 and celebrated their college decisions for next year.

Refreshments were served as students shared their plans for the future and reflected on their time at New Hampton and the college process. The 2014 college season illustrated the continued success for New Hampton School students as they move on to their next stop on a lifelong educational journey. Seniors were accepted to over 200 different colleges and universities and will attend 72 different schools.

Director of College Counseling Jennifer Berry ’83, P’07 ’10 ’15 was thrilled with the opportunities earned by a class that was defined by an incredible range of talents.

“We are so pleased with what our students have learned about themselves during this process,” Berry said. “They have taken advantage of the opportunity to discover their dreams and passions while embracing the process and the necessary work to ensure a smooth transition. I applaud our students for representing themselves, their families, and the School in such a mature and engaged way.”

According to Head of School Andrew Menke  P’12 ’16, the increase in the number of highly selective schools accepting NHS students and the many options and ideal fits that seniors discovered speaks to the New Hampton School’s commitment to preparation for higher education and beyond as well the School’s constant evolution.

"Colleges and universities hold our students, faculty, and programs in high regard,” said Menke. “We strive to create an environment and an experience that will allow for the greatest amount of choice and options for our students’ futures. We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2014. The strong results confirm the many talents of this class and validates their hard work, intellectual engagement, and contributions to the wonderful community in which we are blessed to learn and live.”

Members of the Class of 2014 have been accepted and will attend colleges and universities all across the country and world. The range of schools includes Babson, Bates, Boston University, Brandeis, Bryn Mawr, College of the Holy Cross, Colorado College, Connecticut College, Dickinson, Dartmouth, Elon University, Fordham, Keio University (Tokyo), Haverford College, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, George Washington University, Ithaca College, Northeastern, New York University, UC San Diego, UC Santa Cruz, University of Michigan, University of New Hampshire, University of Vermont, University of Pennsylvania, Purdue, University of Michigan, Oberlin, Princeton University, Skidmore, Trinity, Union, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Wesleyan University.  Students with ambitions to study the arts were accepted by some of the premier art schools in the nation including Rhode Island School of Design and Pratt Institute.
