Athletes of the Month - October

The October female athlete of the month is a classic example of an athlete who brings her best effort every day, even when she's not playing her principal sport. This member of the cross country team began the season with impressive speed and has worked hard through all practices, from speed work to long runs, to improve her pace and endurance. She approaches every run with determination and good humor and never cuts corners, as she demonstrated last week when she chose to finish an eight mile run instead of getting on the bus half a mile from the end point. On the course, this athlete shows a fierce competitive drive and pushes herself to excel, earning first place in every race she ran this season. She consistently finished while the male runners were still finishing, despite a 10 minute delay before the start of the women's race. The October female athlete of the month award goes to Julia Lee.

The October Male Athlete of the Month goes to a member of the Football Team. To say that this athlete is a quiet leader is stating the obvious. His coaches say he is easily the team's most versatile athlete. He makes his physical presence known, be it at tight end helping create holes for the backs, or as a fullback doing likewise, or perhaps running dive, or doing the best imitation of Tim Tebow since, well… Tim Tebow.  Lined up at outside linebacker or defensive end, this athlete has the controls set at "beast-mode" 24/7. He is equally gifted at rushing the passer or covering smaller and supposedly quicker receivers down field. The best thing about this athlete is that he treats everyone with respect, handles himself with humility, and plays the game with passion. He has been an extreme pleasure for his coaches to coach day in and day out. The October Male Athlete of the Month is awarded to Carter Dillon.
