Athletes of the Month — November

Maganzini and Al-Mulla win for outstanding work on the field hockey turf and the cross country trails.

The November Female Athlete of the Month is awarded to Gracie Maganzini. a member of the Varsity Field Hockey Team. Gracie has been a strong contributor for four years ending her career as a captain. She has helped build the field hockey program in her time at New Hampton through her understanding of systems that the team plays and her ability to connect with and teach new players. Gracie is commended for her amazing work ethic in all practices and games which has let her continue to improve and develop over her years into playing a critical role in the midfield this year. Her toughness also showed this season when she played through a broken finger. To end the season, Gracie helped the team gain a victory over Tilton School by scoring the game winning, sudden death, OT stroke in the Powder Keg! For her continuous strong play and leadership over the season, Gracie Maganzini is awarded the November Athlete of the Month.

The November Male Athlete of the Month is awarded to Thunayan. a member of the Cross Country team. Thunayan worked hard every single day of practice, and at the end of the season, his hard work was rewarded. He was the first ever New Hampton Husky to compete in the NEPSTA All Star Cross Country Meet, held at St. Mark’s School. To get there, he had a solid 11th place finish at the Division IV championship, but he saved his best race of the season for last. At the All Star meet, Thunayan ran smoothly, controlled early, and finished fast: 21st among all runners; 3rd among Division IV runners (ahead of the 4th and 5th place finishers from the previous week); and 9th among non-seniors. To commend his continuous strong work ethic on the trails and beyond and for taking New Hampton XC where it has never been before, Thunayan Al-Mulla is awarded the November Athlete of the Month.
