The New Hampton School is honored to announce that the Edward E. Ford Foundation has awarded the School a $50,000 challenge grant that will help establish an endowed fund to support professional development for the International Baccalaureate Program and general-purpose professional development.

New Hampton School will match these funds with an additional $50,000, resulting in a $100,000 fund.

We are honored to receive a grant from the E.E. Ford Foundation, one of the most prestigious and influential independent school foundations in the United States,” New Hampton Head of School Andrew Menke said. “Not only does this grant help to underwrite one of our strategic goals—the support of our most valuable resource, our faculty—it is also a significant endorsement of the unprecedented evolution and innovation occurring here at New Hampton School.”

Each year New Hampton School supports faculty professional development in a variety of ways and also sends faculty members to IB training workshops located world-wide to learn IB philosophy and to become certified to teach IB classes.

Dean of Faculty Dan Love led the IB accreditation process and was thrilled to hear the news that the E.E. Ford Foundation recognized the importance of not only general professional development, but also IB-specific training.

While our talented and dedicated faculty have always instilled in students a lifelong love of learning and the skills to pursue it, New Hampton School is evolving to meet the needs of an increasingly interconnected and dynamic world,” Love said. “The EE Ford foundation grant will allow our faculty to engage in professional development opportunities necessary for learning and improving as a teacher.”

New Hampton was awarded the grant after a lengthy application process and campus visit from the Portland, Maine-based Foundation.

Established in 1957, the E.E. Ford Foundation awards grants for independent secondary education only. Independent secondary schools must hold membership in the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) to be eligible for consideration.
