Women's Lacrosse Players Chosen for Elite Regional Squad

4/27/2012
The Women's Lacrosse team is off to an undefeated start behind a strong  senior class and the leadership of Princeton-bound Anna Menke '12, but  is also getting a boost from freshmen who will soon leave their mark on the national women's lacrosse scene.

Sidney Swormstedt '15 (Laconia, NH), Dempsey Arsenault '15 (New Hampton, NH), and Gracie Maganzini '15 (Wolfeboro, NH) were recently selected to represent Vermont and New Hampshire at the US Lacrosse Women’s Division National Tournament at Stony Brook University on May 25-27.
Swormstead and Arsenault were selected for the top team and Maganzini earned a spot on the second team. Close to 100 players in grades 9-11 tried out for the regional team, and the trio from New Hampton, despite being some of the youngest players on the field, were selected for the squad.

"
It is great for the program to have three athletes represent New Hampton as members of the Upper New England teams," New Hampton Women's Coach Jenna McCabe said. "This team represents the best players in New Hampshire and Vermont!  Having three freshmen make these teams is a great tribute to their dedication and a hopeful insight into the future of New Hampton lacrosse.  The love for the game that these three players have is contagious and raises the level of play of people around them."

Approximately 60 teams from across the country will be placed into 6 divisions, which are further broken into pools. It is one of the nation’s most historic lacrosse events, dating back to the 1930s. A prime destination for college coaches, the event has evolved into one of the nation’s premier recruiting events for women’s lacrosse, drawing teams from all over the country.
