Athlete of the Month
October Female Athlete of the Month: Julia Lee '17
The October Female Athlete of the Month goes to Julia Lee a member of the women's cross country team.  Julia is a classic example of an athlete who brings her best effort every day, even when she's not playing her principal sport. Julia began the season with impressive speed and has worked hard through all practices, from speed work to long runs, to improve her pace and endurance. She approaches every run with determination and good humor and never cuts corners, as she demonstrated last week when she chose to finish an eight mile run instead of getting on the bus half a mile from the end point. On the course, Julia shows a fierce competitive drive and pushes herself to excel, earning first place in every race she ran this season. Julia consistently finished while the male runners were still finishing, despite a 10 minute delay before the start of the women's race. No matter the results of next week's New England Championships, Julia has impressed her coaches and teammates throughout the season. The October female athlete of the month award goes to Julia Lee.

Athlete of the Month
October Male Athlete of the Month: Carter Dillon '15
The October Male Athlete of the Month goes to Carter Dillon a member of the varsity football team. To say that this athlete is a quiet leader is stating the obvious.  His coaches say he is easily the teams most versatile athlete. Carter makes his physical presence known, be it at tight end helping create holes for the backs, or as a fullback doing likewise, or perhaps running dive, or doing the best imitation of Tim Tebow since, well… Tim Tebow.  Lined up at outside linebacker or defensive end, Carter has the controls set at "beast-mode" 24/7.  He is equally gifted at rushing the passer or covering smaller and supposedly quicker receivers down field.  The best thing about Carter is that he treats everyone with respect, handles himself with humility, and plays the game with passion.  He has been an extreme pleasure for his coaches to coach day in and day out.  The October Male Athlete of the Month is awarded to Carter Dillon.

Meet the Staff
Jamie Arsenault
Director of Athletics, Instructor
603-677-3440
Jamie Arsenault is currently in his fifteenth year at New Hampton School.  He is the Director of Athletics.  Jamie completed his B.A. in Administrative Science at Colby College in 1988 and his M.A. in Public Policy at Trinity College in 1993. Jamie was a three-sport captain at Colby College where he played football, basketball and baseball. After graduation, Jamie went on to coach Football, Basketball and Baseball at Colby College, Trinity College, and Rensselaer Poly Institute. After a short time in the Lumber industry, Jamie found his true calling in boarding school.  Jamie took over the basketball program at Bridgton Academy for two years before coming to New Hampton School.

At New Hampton School, Jamie has made an impact teaching character in all that he does. Jamie says that to him the character of his athletes is more important than their skills, and that he chooses student-athletes based on whether he would trust them to babysit his kids. One of Jamie's greatest memories here at New Hampton School was winning the 2002 New England Basketball Championship, when he felt that it was "a true and complete team effort with a good bunch of young people who really played their hearts out."  Jamie's favorite leisure time activities involve playing with his children – son Ryder and daughter Dempsey.  Jamie lives in Wolfe House with his wife, Lara, and their children.
