Information for all seniors and post-graduates:

Our process emphasizes that students should be responsible for themselves and their college process. Students entering the senior or post-graduate year should be learning and practicing the skills necessary for their next steps beyond New Hampton School. They must research college choices, complete applications, ask teachers for recommendations, and meet all deadlines. Each senior or post-graduate student is assigned to one of the two college counselors, Marty Elkins or Keith Hrasky.

 

In the attached downloads, are some very specific steps each post-graduate and member of the Class of 2011 should take prior to arriving on campus.  We have made every effort to simplify the tasks, creating a checklist of what to do, sorting them by importance and offering instructions in detail.  Please be sure to download each attachment!

 

Information for all parents:

The parent role in the college process is to ask questions, listen to their child, and work in partnership with the college counselors to assist the student in the process.  Parents, please be sure to communicate any issues or concerns you may have regarding your child.  While we work as a team here in the office, supporting every student, the assigned counselor is the primary contact person for the student, and his/her parent(s).  In the attached downloads there are some important pieces of information for parents, as well.  Please be sure to download each attachment!

 

During our recent Fall Parents Weekend, Director of College Counseling Marty Elkins provided an overview of the college process to parents with students at all grade levels, Ninth through Postgraduate. The presentation included the philosophy and approach behind the student guidance here at New Hampton School.
