The application process includes an electronic application—a chance to document a student’s life in and out of the classroom—and an on-campus interview.  The interview is a friendly conversation with the New Hampton School community; applicants tour campus with students, observe classes in action, and meet with a member of the school’s admission team.  We’re eager to see what matters to applicants, what drives them, what inspires them.  And to make sure that whatever it is, they’ll find it here.

As part of our commitment to environmental sustainability we prefer that you complete our application online.  Click here to access the online application.

In addition to our own application, New Hampton School welcomes the common applications found on the SSAT website or on The Association of Boarding Schools website.

If you prefer to download our application and mail it to us, please click here.

INTERVIEW: September-February
  • We request on-campus interviews for all applicants. (If not possible, please call to arrange for an alternate site or a SKYPE or phone interview.)
  • Interviews take 2-3 hours and give applicants an opportunity to see NHS and meet teachers, coaches, and students.
  • Interviews can be scheduled Monday-Friday, and some Saturdays. Please call the Admission Office to schedule your visit.
  • If you have a specific request to meet a coach or program director, please let us know when scheduling your interview.
TESTING: October - February
  • For 9th and 10th graders, register for and take the SSAT placement exam. For SSAT registration, please check the Web site at www.ssat.org or call us and we will send you registration materials.
  • For 11th graders through postgraduates, register for and take the PSAT or SAT. For PSAT/SAT registration, talk directly with your guidance counselor.
  • Note: Registration for some tests may not be possible at this late date. If so, we will consider applications without this testing on a case by case basis. Usually nationally-normed school testing (CAT, Regents, MCAS, ISEE) or individual educational testing (WISC, WAIS, Woodcock-Johnson) can be substituted.
APPLICATION: The following materials are due by February 1
  • The initial application
  • The student portion of the application
  • Recommendation forms from your guidance counselor, math, and English teachers
  • A personal recommendation from an employer, coach, family friend, etc.
  • The parent statement
  • Transcripts from your school
FINANCIAL AID: February 15 is the deadline for all financial aid paperwork.
  • Request financial aid forms to be sent to you from our Admission Office or access the PFS form online at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss (NHS school code is 5308.)  Please note that if your parents live in separate households, both parents must complete forms.
  • Mail the PFS form to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid at SSS by NAIS, PO Box 449, Randolph, MA 02368 or for overnight mail, send to: SSS by NAIS, Application Processing Center, 437 Turnpike Street, Canton, MA 02021.  It will process the form and send an assessment directly to us.
