A Guide to Baccalaureate and Commencement, Set for Thursday, Friday

Will McCulloch
The New Hampton School Community is preparing to celebrate the accomplishments of the Class of 2010 at Baccalaureate and Commencement on Thursday and Friday.

Members of the Class of 2010 and their families will gather at 5 pm pm May 27, on the Crum Campus Center Patio to enjoy the Class of 2010 Sitting Area Dedication. Families traveling north out of Boston to join the festivities should plan on heavy traffic for the holiday weekend. Leaving early is a wise plan, as it is not unusual to encounter stop-and-go traffic on Thursday afternoon.

Dinner will immediately follow in Memorial Dining Hall. If you have not yet returned the dinner response card for your family’s dinner reservation, please do so as soon as possible or call Beth Dodge in the Head of School’s Office at 603-677-3425. Parents of the Class of 2010 should have received two complimentary dinner tickets. The graduate and siblings who are NHS students do not need a dinner ticket. Additional tickets are available at a cost of $15.00 each.

Baccalaureate, our farewell address to the class, will be held at 6:45 pm May 27, in the Field House located in the Arts & Athletic Center. To allow for a positive graduation weekend, we will require all seniors and postgraduate students to board buses following the Baccalaureate program to take part in a faculty-chaperoned "Mystery Tour." The students will return to campus for breakfast Friday morning preceding Commencement.

The 2010 Commencement Ceremony will be held on Meservey Lawn on Friday, May 28, at 9:45 am. Tickets are not required for this event and there is no limit to the number of guests families may invite. A light buffet will be available following the ceremony. A complimentary photo of your graduate receiving his or her diploma from Head of School Andrew Menke will be mailed to you a few weeks following the ceremony.

An exciting new development this year is the availability of watching Baccalaureate and Commencement live on our Web site. We will be livestreaming both ceremonies at http://www.newhampton.org/tv. A high-speed Internet connection is required to join the Webcast.

Both Baccalaureate and Commencement ceremonies will be videotaped and will be available in DVD format for purchase. The two ceremonies are available on two discs for $20. E-mail Beth Dodg bdodge@newhampton.org to place your order.
