April Athletes of the Month

Abbie Taylor ’15, Asa Goldstock ’16, Teddy Beaudet ’16, and Henry Knigge ’17 named April co-athletes of the month. The text of the citation read at the May 8th school meeting is included below.
For her ability to lead by example and for being the ultimate competitor, the April female co-athlete of the month goes to Abbie Taylor, a member of the softball team. She has been a leader in her six games played in the month of April. She has 8 base hits including 3 doubles, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs while scoring 8 runs of her own. On the mound she has fanned 18 batters and fielded her position flawlessly. She is calm, cool, and collected off the field and a silent assassin on it! She plays with great versatility as a shortstop, centerfield, and pitcher.

For her leadership and consistently high level of play Asa Goldstock is awarded the April female co-athlete of the month. As a member of the lacrosse team, she has helped the team remained undefeated at this point in the Lakes Region by providing rock solid play at the back of the defense. As an only goalie on the team, she must be excellent every day, and she has done just that with a .700 save percentage thus far.

For his consistent high level of play, the April male co-athlete of the month is awarded to Teddy Beaudet. In Teddy’s last 10 games he has led the team in several offensive categories including HRs (3), RBI (19) and AVG (.591).  At the catcher position, he has thrown out 6 of 7 potential base stealers. He has been outstanding on the mound in April not allowing a run in 12 innings of work while racking up 15 strikeouts. On April 22nd, he matched a career high with 4 hits and 2 home runs while collecting a season high 4 RBI in New Hampton’s 11-10 comeback win over Kimball Union Academy.

For his passion for the game and calm demeanor against opponents the April male Co-athlete of the month is awarded to Henry Knigge, a member of the tennis team. Words cannot do justice to the many qualities of this player. He possesses all of the attributes necessary for playing college at this present time. Anyone that has seen him play must wonder what he is thinking because he always has the same facial expression: calm, collected and humble. As #1 for the Huskies, he has beaten every single player in the Lakes Region. Working as part of the team is truly something Henry enjoys.
