Tilton Caps Rally with Late Bucket

Tilton defeated New Hampton in the finals of the 29th New Hampton Invitational 70-68 on the heels of a go-ahead bucket with 4.1 seconds left. In a tale of two halves, the Huskies controlled the first frame, heading into the break up 43-22. In the second half, Tilton refused to go away, slowly chipping away before pulling even with seven minutes left. A back and forth final two minutes saw the Huskies pull ahead only to see a Tilton 3 put them ahead by 2. After two Tyler Lydon '15 (Elisaville, NY) free throws to tie the game with 20 seconds left, Franklin Porter, who earned the Andrew Sloan MVP award, hit a step back jumper to take the deciding lead, as the Huskies were unable to get off a tying attempt. Lydon led the way for the Huskies with 22 points and 16 rebounds, while John Crosby '15 (Baltimore, MD) added 17. The Huskies have a short break before taking on AAA league foe St. Thomas More on Monday at Smith Gymnasium.
