We understand the the challenge of affording an independent school education for your child
In an effort to meet your needs, New Hampton School
offers three major resources to assist families with managing the costs of their children’s education: structured payment programs; assistance identifying appropriate loan programs; and need-based financial aid to qualifying families.
An independent secondary education is an investment and it is important to plan accordingly. Please find below information about financial aid at New Hampton School and Frequently Asked Questions related to Financial Aid.
New Hampton School is committed to guiding each family through the process of determining qualification for financial aid. The School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) in Randolph, MA, assists New Hampton School in determining each family’s ability to pay based on the submission of the Parents’ Financial Statement (PFS) and required tax documents. New Hampton School in most cases is only able to meet a portion of the financial need as determined by SSS.
In order to offer financial assistance to as many families as possible, we often expect contributions above and beyond a family’s calculated ability to pay. Families may need to give a higher percentage of their discretionary income or seek out other sources for assistance. Families may also choose to work with one of the loan programs to borrow some portion of the money needed for tuition.
While failing to meet the stated deadlines may not disqualify you from receiving financial aid, it may result in a lesser award or funding may no longer be available. All documentation must be received for financial aid to be credited to a student’s account. New Hampton School reserves the right to withdraw any offer of financial aid due to failure to complete the process or fraudulent misrepresentation of information.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q.
Are financial aid applications confidential?
A.
Yes. New Hampton believes aid applications and awards should be confidential. We expect families to support this confidentiality by not discussing aid applications or awards with anyone who is not on the Financial Aid Committee. Parents should also explain the importance of maintaining this confidentiality to their children.
Q.
How is financial aid determined?
A.
After reviewing financial aid applications and tax documentation, the Financial Aid Committee convenes to assess family need in conjunction with available institutional resources.
Q.
Does SSS make financial aid rewards?
A.
No. All financial aid awards are made by New Hampton School. The funds are generated through the school’s operating budget as well as from scholarships funded by the generous gifts of New Hampton alumni, parents, and friends.
Q.
Do all accepted applicants receive financial aid?
A.
No. Some families do not qualify under the need-based system. Also our funds are limited, so some students who are admitted and demonstrate need do not receive financial aid.
Q.
How do you award financial aid to families with divorced or separated parents?
A.
Both biological parents must complete financial statements and submit them to SSS. In the case of remarried parents, step-parents must be included in the financial aid assessment.
Q.
Are financial aid awards for future years guaranteed?
A.
No. Families must re-apply for financial aid each year. A continuous level of family qualification is necessary to retain financial aid awards.
